Youth & Teen

If your child is interested in martial arts but you're concerned about them using it aggressively, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an ideal option. It's a self-defense system that relies on leverage instead of strikes to submit opponents, making it safe for school and home environments. Our proven techniques will equip your child to defend themselves from bullies, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. With athletic achievement comes boosted self-esteem and improved composure under pressure, which is why we recommend private lessons for children who struggle with aggression or discipline. Through Gracie Columbia, your child will learn the values of Commitment, Respect, Focus, Self-Discipline, and Effort - values that translate into a rewarding experience and positive results.

Our Kids and Juniors programs will work on:

  • Developing listening, obedience, and concentration skills
  • Improving social skills
  • Improving self-control, respect, and discipline
  • Increasing physical attributes such as hand-eye coordination, strength, agility, and flexibility

What makes Gracie Jiu-Jitsu so effective for kids is the fact that instead of learning moves through katas or prearranged set of movements carried out on a cooperative training partner, they will learn how to apply grappling techniques on a resisting training partner who’s not cooperating and is counteracting with his own moves, much like as what you’d see on the streets.

In our youth jiu-jitsu classes, we teach basic techniques and movements, such as takedowns, submissions, and ground control through a variety of games and drills. At the end of each class studnet will have a chance to practice what they have learned in one on one practice rounds. These classes focus on developing coordination, agility, and strength, while also emphasizing the importance of discipline, respect, and teamwork.
