Andy Bell & Professor Shawn Woods began training Jiu-Jitsu & MMA together in 2003. Andy is Shawn’s first black belt and has trained at numerous gyms throughout the country. Andy is also a law enforcement officer, former 500-hour certified yoga instructor, and personal trainer.

Mark Thompson is a black belt under Shawn Woods. He has been training BJJ for over 20 years in Canada, France and the United States. Mark is also a historian who teaches in the local schools and colleges.

Justin Dyer began training jiu-jitsu in 2006 and was awarded a black belt under Shawn Woods in 2020. Prior to taking up jiu-jitsu, he was a member of the wrestling team at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a three-time qualifier for the NCAA national wrestling championships and three-time Academic All-American. He holds a Ph.D. in public law and political philosophy and is currently a political science professor at the University of Missouri.

Bailey is a purple belt under Shawn Woods, who started her BJJ journey in 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She is an assistant coach during the kids and teens classes, as well as the head coach for the women’s program. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment for all and forming relationships with each student at the gym. Bailey is also an active competitor and enjoys challenging herself at every opportunity. Outside of jiu jitsu, Bailey is a student at the University of Missouri studying Journalism and Strategic Communications.

On Average, starting from a white belt it takes 2 years to earn you Blue belt, 4 years to earn your purple belt, 7 years to earn your brown belt and 10 years to earn your black belt. It only takes one minute to sign up and start learning from a master.
